My Daughter is a Star

My daughter’s class does this thing where each child gets to be a “Star” for a week.

The Star brings in photos of themselves to hang on the wall, three of their favorite things for show-and-tell and asks their parents to write a paper, story or poem about them to share with the class.

I decided to write a poem in the style of Dr. Seuss:

My daughter is awesome, beautiful, funny and great

if you were to ask me about her age, I’d say that it was 8.

She is a wonderful artist

who loves to use paint and chalk

And one of her other favorite things to do above all is: talk.

She loves to go to school to see her teacher and her friends

she secretly wishes that school was every day

and it would never end.

When she comes home, she gets off the bus, and sits down at the table

she does her homework, then and there, as best as she is able.

My daughter loves to sing and loves to dance and do gymnastics

Whatever she tries, whatever she does, it always turns out fantastic!

She is nice to her brother, mostly

listens all the time, kinda

She loves her dog, Sydney

and her favorite food is, pizza.

Sage is a star, shining happy and bright

we love her lots, with all of our might!

She loved it. The class and the teacher loved it. I think it is one of the best things I’ve ever written because it is all true and came from the heart.
